About High Plains Nursery in Allison, Colorado

About - Larry

High Plains Nursery, Inc. was started in 2000 by Larry Sprague, a Midwest grower, who seized the opportunity to create a growing nursery in southern Colorado, when he found the perfect acreage in the fertile San Juan River Valley. The fledgling nurserGarden workery was located between the San Juan Mountains and high desert communities of Durango, Bayfield and Pagosa Springs in the Southwestern Four Corners.

Since then High Plains Nursery has become a unique regional nursery growing hardy plant varieties adapted to the challenging growing conditions of southern Colorado, providing quality landscaping plants to high desert communities.

Bonnie Sprague (wife) joined Larry at High Plains Nursery in 2002. They combined both experience and a love for growing plants! Bonnie’s horticultural experience includes: professional landscape design, consultation, years of hands-on-gardening and Colorado State University Master Gardener certification.High Plains Nursery
